Music Department - Parent Communication

Friday, October 2, 2015 by PETER SINCLAIR | Instrumental Lessons

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am writing to confirm your subscription to the private instrumental music programme at the British School of Guangzhou. Instrumental lessons take place each week during the school day on a staggered timetable.

Lesson times are now coordinated by the visiting music teachers who arrange their schedule on a weekly basis with the school. These are then displayed on the music department notice board and are also sent to all class teachers and tutors.

Students are strongly advised to check the time of their lesson when they come to school at the start of the week (or with their teacher). Please note that presently we do not send this information home electronically. However, we are in the process of developing an online platform that will enable direct teacher, student and parental engagement with these lessons at a later date. We will be releasing further information about this development and our new departmental website very soon to all parents, staff and students.

Please also note that student attendance for instrumental classes are carefully monitored. Makeup credits are awarded if students miss lessons for an arranged school engagement/excursion or if the teacher is absent. However, please also be aware that if a student misses a lesson without informing the teacher concerned then a make-up credit is not given.

Billing and invoicing for these lessons will be compiled by the school finance department each term. The term one programme runs for ten lessons at 200RMB per lesson. Please do not send monies to school under any circumstances as we cannot be responsible for any monies lost or misplaced. Please contact Irene Huang (Finance Officer) directly if you want to make alternative methods of payment or bank transfer. Irene can be contacted on the following e-mail address: Irene@bsg.org.cn or on school extension number 8008.

Lessons will resume on Thursday 8th October. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions about the instrumental programme.

Regards,

Peter Sinclair
